Brief History of Old Poage Farm
“I've been so thankful to the Poages for allowing me to get to know their family's history - pulling together photographs, articles, and stories for inclusion in the Virginia Room's digital archives and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources files. I had also hoped it was the start of creating a successful National and State Register nomination for the house that would have opened the door to Historic Tax Credits to offset restoration costs. Today photographs are all that is left. Poage House was the centerpiece of our community for two and three quarter centuries. I am heartbroken for the Poages and I mourn its loss and the incredible asset it could have been. “ ~ Maribeth Mills
